Social networks usually strip this data on upload, but files sent by email, messaging apps, or stored in shared folders frequently keep it intact.

Which formats are supported?

You can drop in common image formats like JPEG and PNG. EXIF metadata is most associated with JPEGs straight from a camera or phone, and those are fully read and cleaned. PNGs rarely carry EXIF but can hold other ancillary metadata, which the re-encoding step also removes. Because cleaning works by re-rendering the image, the output is a standard JPEG or PNG that any app can open — just without the hidden information the original contained.
